So, here is a little bit about me:
I am a photographer, explorer, adventurer, mom, wife, gardener; a creative and passionate soul, living on Vancouver Island. I find it a most amazing place to live, explore and photograph. I love the natural world, the beauty of it in it’s many forms and I thoroughly enjoy capturing the art I see in nature.
My style is natural, honest and vibrant.
I wish I could capture what I see every day, but there are just some moments that are not possible to capture; instead, I do my best to be inspired by them. But, when I can capture those amazing moments…. the things I see a certain way – I am ecstatic; and it brings me great joy to share what I have experienced with others.
I am a self taught photographer. I studied photography via; videos, books, magazines, online classes, short workshops, and I have done a lot of research and learning by trial and error with lots and lots of practise. I am also learning how to draw and paint. Hoping to expand my artistic creative nature.
I have learned Photoshop CS5 and now use CC2017. I also use Lightroom. I’ve created my own presets in PS and LR to save me time in editing.
In this field, I am constantly learning new techniques, about technology and trying out new things.
It is thrilling to capture special moments, and then create something sharable from those moments for others to enjoy as well. I want for people to feel as though they were with me, seeing what I see, feeling what I feel. My desire is to visually take people, on the journey with me. To see the depth of the magnificence of creation and the beauty of our world. There is far too much darkness, this is my small expression of light.
I started out photographing sporting and school events, families, couples and weddings, but my passion was always in nature, so I switched focus just over 2 years ago, creating my own logo, website, business cards, etc.. making my own items and products with my images.
Presently I offer a diverse selection of professionally printed greeting cards, resin coated framed prints, canvas, and coasters in resin. But you can view those and other products, in my shop.
I have had my photography shown in coffee shops, art exhibits, permanently displayed on 2 traffic boxes and in 2 local art galleries. I have had a booth at the annual River City Arts Fest and other outdoor markets. I am currently a member of the Arts Council of Campbell River.
My photography has been used by various organizations in promotional materials in print and online.
One thing I will leave you with, well, maybe two. Go out, take time to appreciate the natural world and what creation has to offer. It does have healing affects. Go places away from people and just stop, observe and listen. You will find a myriad of beauty and mystery; and it will take you away, if only for a moment. But you will see and feel different after. Better, rested, inspired.
